VAT Validation

Zeno extracts VAT IDs from documents and evaluates validation state for review.

Validation states​

You may see one of these outcomes:

  • Valid: VAT is confirmed by validation source
  • Not determined: VAT could not be conclusively verified in current flow
  • Unknown: temporary lookup/service uncertainty

Not determined does not automatically block document registration.

Where state is shown​

  • document preview badges,
  • mandatory fields summary,
  • registry-level VAT columns.

Why status can be non-final​

Common reasons:

  • lookup is disabled by policy/feature flag,
  • external VAT service is temporarily unavailable,
  • extracted VAT format is incomplete/noisy,
  • source document lacks enough context.

Operator guidance​

  1. Verify VAT text in original document
  2. Correct field manually if OCR/parser captured it incorrectly
  3. Continue review and decide whether to register based on your compliance policy

Important notes​

  • VAT status is a compliance signal, not legal advice
  • Zeno does not silently alter VAT source values
  • Final acceptance remains a user decision
